Executive + Leadership Coach/Training Facilitator/Global Talent Development | Apple
Erica will be speaking about:
Communicating to be Heard
Erica talks about the impact on the careers of those who display a lack of confidence. For example, if you are not confident in your own skills, how or why should a company leader trust you to speak confidently with customers and other organisations about their products? She emphasises the importance of practice in order to overcome fears and to build your confidence. She even talks about a technique she uses to record her voice on the memo feature on her phone to play it back and hear what she’s sounding like, and to keep going until she gets it right.
Erica talks about Feminine leadership and her role in HR at Apple. She discusses how in the executive coaching she does, she sees women often not applying for a job even if they meet 90 – 95% of the job description. She once had a tech role where 97% of applicants were men. She describes how men and women express their leadership styles differently, and how they are received differently. She opens up about a man and a woman she coaches, and the differences she sees in how their leadership style is received by their teams, despite having very similar styles.
